Evaluation

I think that the performance went really well and better then we all expected. I think that the excitement of having an audience there gave the show pace, which we all believed it needed in order to make it the best it could’ve been. I think for me, me and Cameron worked really well together on the final performance and better than we had done before. This gave Leah more to play with and to create a bigger character out of. I think that you don’t fully understand your character until the final performance, as you are always learning something about this new person’s life and character as you go along through rehearsals. I think that it was really interesting seeing somebody else playing the same part as i was because not only could i learn from them, but i enjoyed seeing the small contrast about that character. For example: Eloise. I thought she was really good and we both, as well as Ella, kept to the same sort of character, but just playing it in different ways. She used the space of the stage really well and considering it was a thrust stage, she was one of the only people who was concentrating on who could see her and who couldn’t. I think our piece was really effective as we were all in the same costume, which gave the effect that we all went to the same school, which added to the same atmosphere. I think the set also contributed to the atmosphere as it was minimalistic but at the same time, by just having the swing there, it sort of became the centre point/focus of the stage when no actors were on the stage, which ideally, never left the stage empty. I also think that the music during the changeovers gave a real boost of energy into the play, and made everybody feel fresher about the next scene. Lastly the props. I don’t think we had many, but what we did was very simple, yet made a huge impact. Ursula’s cigarette behind her ear, made a huge difference to her character and Eloise having the tuple wear box, somehow, made her lines more sinister. Finally, i believe that the main strengths of the performance were the effort that we have all put in over the last 6 weeks. I also think that teamwork was a big aspect and also brought us together as a company. I think the weaknesses, were the timing of the play, but then again, every play needs pace. To finish with i think as a production, we could have developed some people’s line learning more and maybe more pronunciation and how to say lines, instead of just learning them. Overall it went really well.

1)    I think this picture really shows Leah trying to stand up to John Tate, and you can see that she is finding it quite hard, but trying her best
2)    I think that this picture portrays an image of Leah that the audience hasn’t really seen before; she is in awe of what Mark is telling them, and can’t seem to get her head around the news. I like this picture as it shows the pure concentration on Leah’s face.
3)    This picture shows Leah, trying to understand Phil, but still looking laid back about it at the same time. I think this picture really paints an image of their relationship.

*Reason i am referring to myself as Leah is because i believe that when i am on stage i become my character.
